Chief conductor of the Department of Music’s Symphony Orchestra at University of Antioquia. He was the conductor of the Symphony Youth Orchestra of the Network of Schools of Music of Medellín between 2012 and 2017. He has conducted at the Cartagena International Music Festival (two versions) Colorado College Summer Music Festival – USA (two versions), Medellin International Music Festival, Tunja International Culture Festival and the City of Medellín International Opera and Zarzuela Seasons on several occasions. He was one of the conductors during the visit of Pope Francisco to Colombia in 2017.


He has participated as a guest conductor with the EAFIT Symphony Orchestra, Antioquia Symphony Orchestra, Cartagena Youth Orchestra, Pampa Argentina Orchestra, Medellín Polyphonic Studio Orchestra, Medellín Metropolitan Opera, and conducted fusions of urban music in symphonic versions with famous artists such as Chocquibtown and Puerto Candelaria . He has conducted renowned international soloists such as Maxim Venguerov, Alice Dade, Elizabeth Mann, Anne Marie Gabriele, Kevin Cobb, León Giraldo, Eliana Piedrahíta, among others.


He is currently professor  at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Antioquia and advisor to the Colombian Ministry of Culture. He has participated in important workshops where he has leaded the National Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia with maestros José Serebrier and Andrés Orozco-Estrada.


Juan Pablo Noreña holds a Bachelor Degree in Music with an emphasis on trumpet from the University of Caldas. He studied Master’s Degree in Orchestral Conducting at EAFIT University under the guidance of renowned teachers Cecilia Espinosa and Alejandro Posada, as well as with Federico Sepúlveda, Juan Felipe Molano and Guerassim Voronkov.
